OUR VISION
“We are here to bring joy to Jesus and to experience joy in Him.”
We believe that the highest calling for every person on earth is to bring glory to our Creator and Redeemer. As 1 Corinthians 10:31 says:
Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
But, at the same time, we believe that if we live our lives for Jesus' glory, we will experience the best life possible. As Jesus says in John 10:10:
I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
Therefore, our goal at Hope Church is to put a smile on Jesus’ face, knowing that in the process, He puts a smile on ours.
SERVICES TIMES AND LOCATION
Our two worship services at Hope, 919 Grand Ave., begin at 8:30am & 10:45am Sunday mornings. Our Sunday School programs are for pre-school through elementary, as well as classes for middle school, high school and adults are offered at 9:45am.
During the summer months (starting in mid May) worship times are still 8:30am and 10:45am but with no Sunday School.
When you come to worship (and come as you are) you can enjoy a cup of freshly brewed coffee before, during, or after the service. We use a variety of music, live drama, video clips and Biblical, practical preaching.
In our worship services we try to accomplish:
- Keeping the focus on God and keeping it Biblical
- Promoting the community of believers, with an emphasis on salvation by grace
- Involving a lot of people, including the congregation
- Keeping things easy to follow and understand
- Using a familiar order but with a variety of styles through the music, readings, drama, video, testimonies, etc.
- Communicating the joy of following Jesus and encouraging this to continue as we leave the service and throughout our week.
WHAT TO EXPECT
What is the worship service like?
We meet in the sanctuary, with pews spaced in a semi-circle around an open platform. Worship services are upbeat with a praise team accompanied by piano, drums, and guitars. We sing the newest worship songs as well as classic hymns. We use video, drama, special music, prayers, and a Bible-based sermon to bring God’s Word to life for you.
Is there a dress code?
You will see a wide variety of dress at both worship services. Some people like the opportunity to wear their “Sunday best” while others see Sunday as an opportunity to “dress down.” In all cases, we want people to wear the clothes they are comfortable with, and we do not judge people by their clothes.
Can we really bring coffee into the worship service?
You bet! We believe in the value of fellowship, and lots of people find it easier to visit over a cup of coffee. So we brew quality coffee before and after our worship services and encourage you to have a cup or two. If you aren’t finished when the service starts, don’t worry about it—just put a lid on it and take it in with you.
STARTING POINT
Starting Point is our introduction to Hope Church. Held a couple times a year, usually on two consecutive Sunday afternoons, Starting Point explains why we do what we do the way we do it. This is a great chance to get to know some other people who are relatively new to Hope Church, learn how we are like or unlike other churches you may have attended, and help you learn to tell your own God Story. This is also intended to help you make an informed choice about whether you want to become a member of Hope Church.
